Sarah Carkhuff Fizell
Sarah has 10 years experience in a wide variety of communications arenas. Her experience has focused mostly on communication of health policy, politics, and regulatory issues. She also has experience with all aspects of event planning and campaign management. She has a B.A. in Communications Studies from the University of Kansas.
Most recently, Sarah worked as a policy analyst and communications specialist at the Kansas Health Institute (KHI) where she worked on topics such as Medicaid financing, state health reform, and the uninsured in Kansas. Prior to this, Sarah lived in Washington, D.C. and worked for the Kaiser Family Foundation where she was responsible for event planning and communications that worked coordinated press conferences, policy briefings, and built strategic communications plans around specific policy issues on a national level and on a variety of subjects. She honed her grassroots organizing skills during Kathleen Sebelius' successful 2002 gubernatorial race.
Sarah's background in politics, policy, event planning and technical writing - combined with several years spent as a design major at KU, bring a unique set of skills to clients at Strategic Communications of Kansas.
